Flying Free Releases
The Flying Free program exists to educate and celebrate our important work with the community. Nearly 1,000 birds are brought to our hospital in need of medical care every year.

Wildlife rehabilitation is at the core of our mission and releasing a bird back into the wild is the most exciting component of this process. The Flying Free program is an opportunity for individuals, private groups, and the public to experience the thrill of watching a bird return back to the wild. Each release is facilitated by a trained staff member, who will provide detailed information about the patient's journey from rescue to release, be available to answer questions, and allow a Flying Free participant to release the bird.
Donations for the program start at $150, with all proceeds going to Mission Wild Bird Hospital so that we can continue our rehabilitation work. Business sponsorships and individuals are invited to partake in a Flying Free release. If you wish to schedule a wild bird release, please fill out a Flying Free Request Form. A few things to keep in mind:
Species vary based on the season and each type of bird has different habitat requirements to be released in
Birds become available for release as soon as they finish recovering, so we cannot ensure a particular species will be ready on a particular day.
The more flexible you are with your date, the more accommodating we can try to be.
Noting the above considerations, it is not guaranteed that we can accommodate your request although we do our best.
